Adnan Karim's concert in UBC, Vacncover,BC, Canada

It was definitely a memorable night in Vancouver. The musical instrument emotional that was the voice of Kurdish singer, Adnan Karim, filled the air and the hearts of the audience inside that very hall with ideas, beautiful images and memories of love and compassion. If you were able to close your eyes for just a moment and clear your head, you could almost feel the harmonies go right through your fingertips.

If you had the privilege to attend, you would understand and agree with me when I say that the fingertips that belonged to the band members seemed to be dancing on their instrument strings. People, full of unexplained emotion, sat quietly as they waited desperately for something. Eyes were glued to the stage, begging to see and feel more. Ears were just listening so intently, making sure not to miss anything. Suddenly, all the minds in the room were to be focused on understanding one tone and one voice.

It was just like the shattered imaginations of many Autumns were just revived and made the present a window through which you could see the beauty of fantasy. Then you feel the Spring full of freshness and be able to notice that the beauty of life rising for one more time in that graceful atmosphere.

Turkey is not a democratic state and should not claim to be.

Turkey's been working hard for many years to convince many countries in Europe to enter the EU. One of the issues that concern the EU, is the basic democratic right of the minority, including Kurdish people, in south west Turkey. Turkey is trying too hard to prove to the EU that their government has improved it's relationship with the Kurds and has been dealing with the Kurdish issue in a democratic way; when the reality is, there is still ethnic conflict between the Turkish government and the Kurds. There are still laws in the Turkish constitutions that deny the basic democratic rights of the Kurdish people. Which is denying Kurds the right to show or prove themselves as an independent nation across the world. The constitution de-means them.

Because of this, there is still an enormous amount of anger and high disappointments amongst the Kurdish population towards this corrupted political system, totalitarian regime, and it's laws. Along with those who are in power. There are still many Kurds in the Kurdistan region of Turkey who feel the need to go out and demonstrate their hostility on the streets of their cities. They want their voices can be heard, so they find themselves angrily chanting on and on about their terrible life condition. Their rights have been denied for centuries, and their environment that has been controlled and governed by figureheads rather than themselves. And instead of listening to their demands and compromising or having an open dialog with the people, this totalitarian government immediately calls in a Turkish army, the police, and the state's secret securities which carrying the best weapons, and are ready to shoot. They'll compare it to a game. Betting on which department would hit, wound, catch, and kill the highest amount of the demonstrators. In respond to this harsh, inhuman, abusive nature, the demonstrators begin to throw small rocks at what can only be described as well, monsters. Monsters who enjoy watching the beating, abuse, and even killing of other human beings.

Recently, the Turkish government, under the anti-terrorist act, introduced a new law that sentences minors and even youngsters as old as 14 or 15 years, who are involved in the throwing of rocks at any government officer to 12 years or more. This new system treats these kids like adults, which they are obviously not, during both their hearing and their sentencing; showing no mercy.

Lately, in the southern part of the Kurdistan region in Turkey, there have been a numerous amount of people, including both women and young children joining protests. Usually, kids around the world, especially in poorer countries, find themselves joining these demonstrations, not because they either know the cause or reason for a specific demonstration, or have an understanding of what is is right- but they involve themselves because they just enjoy the togetherness of the people. And they enjoy being treated like adults and being able to think that their opinions or thoughts count. But what none of these kids counted on was having to see their parents, their relatives, their neighbors, or their friends being taking away by a uniformed figure. They never thought they'd never saw them again. They probably couldn't even imagine the prisons and the inhuman conditions they had to try to live though. When they came back, if they did come back, they'd be back with broken skulls, jaws, fingers, wrists, legs; anything that could've been broken, probably was. If their physical pain wasn't enough, these people have to suffer emotionally every day. These people, because of the cruel psychological treatments they received, will never be the same.

A few days ago, Hassan; a 16 year old teenager, was arrested by Turkish Police in Kurdistan Turkey for what was the participation in a protest. For throwing a stone, he was beaten and wounded, and then arrested.

Hassan told his interview that even after he was arrested, the police continued to beat him. He was jailed for four days without any human contact. During this time, his tooth began to ache, but before the prison doctor even asked him about his condition, he too beat him. I ask what was the point of this?

In my opinion, Turkey hasn't really improved anything regarding it's relations with the Kurdish people which is why I believe that this ethnic conflict has continued, and will continue until the exploitation and oppression of the people is brought to an end. Both issues and anger will continue to rise until all democratic rights of the Kurdish people is recognized by the Turkish government and the global community.

Never mind you're drunk

Last night at work, we had a mid age customer in her early 50th. She is our regular customer. I am not quite sure wether she is from Quebec or Montreal due to her accent. she is alcoholic and drunk whenever she comes in. Last night, she was totally drunk and was a companied by another lady. She asked for a meal of chicken fried rice and a piece of baked chicken leg on the top of her meal. She got her meal on the table and sat down and with her company and started to eat. They were talking loudly as they could not hear each other. after many people came and left. they were still there talking and eating. They shattered food all over the table and around the floor. Whoever came in, they glanced at them. One customer came with a young lady to use the ATM machine. The drunk lady were leaning toward the ATM and mumbled a little. The young lady went to block her so she couldn't see the man's PIN number. The drunk lady started to speak clearly and swear at her. The young lady yelled and shouted at her and told her to be quiet. She talked back by swearing at both of them this time, and she called the man stupid. The young girl went wild. The man was quite at the beginning, but spoke up nicely at the end and told the young lady not to respond because he couldn't tolerate that kind of attitude and told her " This Lady doesn't know me. what in this Word make her think that I am stupid. Let her be herself and say whatever she wanna say until she is gonna get tire of talking ,who cares.". The young lady got quite They left while the drunk lady still barking at them

democracy

If we give everyone a chance to talk, discuss, and express themselves, there'll be a solution to each problem we face in this World.
Racism, prejudice, and egotism are causing many troubles around in this Word.
Let's create a dialog between ourselves and listen carefully to one another so we could be able to receive the exact message far from any prejudice .

yesterday was sunny, beautiful and Thanks Giving Gay. I had to work last evening  because so many people depend of my daily food  serving. I served so many people most of them were homeless or poor people with a little or no money at all. They were coming in and telling me " Happy thanks giving" and they showed me some coins and asked me to served them some food, because they were really hungry and they had nothing to eat. I had no choice but to give them the a slice of Pizza, some porgies, potatoes with cheese, or something else. They were happy and appreciated the serving while they left our fast food store and they were telling me that was our thanks giving dinner.
I had a customer who brought some mush potatoes on a plate and asked me to purchase a piece of backed chicken leg on the tope of his plate so he could feel he had a thanks giving dinner.
The most amusing view I saw last night, was a hungry dog running after his owner; who was a homeless guy, and holding a piece of paper with some ketchup left on it. So he could leak the ketchup whenever his master stops at a crossing line on the street.
That was my own experience on last Thanks Given Day

Thanks giving dinner

Most of the family gathered at our place last night (Saturday) for thanks giving dinner. It was lovely evening full of activity, the little babies created an environment full of joy and it was amusing to see them grow fast. The adult were talking about work and the conditions that surrounding our daily lives. After a very tasty dinner, we all spent our time playing bingo, poker, and black jack. I was very happy that they were here last night and they really enjoyed their time. It was great to see that.
